< - - Ancient History (Pre 480)

480 | GLOBAL | The Western division of the Roman Empire is formally abolished.
482 | ESTRELLA | A large group of refugees, once members of Roman high society, settle in Estrella. They bring with them a lot of treasure and gold that allow them to ingratiate themselves in the king's court. He takes great interest in their culture and stories, to the chagrin of some of his advisors. They follow Greco-Roman polytheism, having lost faith in Christianity due to the fact that it was mostly Christian barbarians who sacked Rome, and some blame Rome's conversion for its fall.
487 | ESTRELLA | A Roman noble marries the king's daughter, tying Roman influence to the Estrellan monarchy.
490 | ESTRELLA | The king begins a long campaign to conquer and integrate the barbarian tribes of Eitador.
495 | ESTRELLA | The Estrellans lose the battle of Smoke Desert with the northern tribes, and tensions are rising with their neighboring nation, Xhakhoro. They put an end to their campaign of conquest in order to fortify their existing borders.
505 | XHAKHORO | War begins with Estrella. It has very few big battles, with neither faction attempting to push forward with large armies. There are countless horseback raids and skirmishes.
520 | XHAKHORO | The war with Estrella ends after the leaders of the two nations decide a trade deal would be a more beneficial idea for the both of them.
550 | STEPPE | The Ygiri culture develop in the remote steppe of northeast Eitador, which ends up being known as the Ygiri Steppe. They are a nomadic people who are known for breeding some of the largest and most powerful horses in the entire world. They do not control the entire steppe directly, but they certainly come to dominate it. They ride from place to place collecting tributes from the towns and hillforts there, raiding those who refuse to pay up, until refusal to pay becomes a very rare occurence.
566 | XHAKHORO | The second Xhakhoro-Estrellan war begins. Both sides take land and cities from each other. Xhahkoro's new borders extend to Korvaria, a small city in a mountainous desert region.
571 | XHAKHORO | The second Xhakhoro-Estrellan war ends with no clear winner. They decide to trade back the cities they took from one another, but relations sour again before this can happen.
600 | XHAKHORO | Xhahkoro win a war against a large 'bandit confederacy' to their north.

Map of Eitador circa 600 AD

630 | XHAKHORO | The first prophet of the Ascendency is born in Xhakhoro's capital. Read more about the first prophet in Whispering Unto Heaven.
640 | XHAKHORO | The Isle of Nashir is conquered by Xhakhoro. They treat the local population as savages who need to be civilized, but quickly come to rely on the wisdom of natives in order to survive the island's challenging jungles and climate.
641 | CHYERJIK | In the northwest of Eitador, the mountainous and beautiful Wilderlands, King Du'rhvu has settled his tribe in their 'promised land'. They call the new kingdom 'Chyerjik'.
642 | ESTRELLA | Estrella is partitioned between the three children of King Haylean. This was agreed on by the nobility based on the idea that the kingdom was too big to manage effectively, but was largely just because the king was much more fond of his other two children over his firstborn. The uptight and bitter firstborn, King Tylia, recieves the capital region of Nauticau in the east. Queen Finni, beautiful and popular, recieves Middle Estrella. And the young King Ealmon, strong and confident, takes Wesland.
645 | STEPPE | The 'big three' Ygiri nomadic tribes of Oum, Dahsi, and Karkag put their differences aside in order to breach new territory with their raids. King Tylia of Nauticau is forced to pay a hefty sum of gold to keep them away from his cities.
650 | ESTRELLA | Finni enlists Ealmon's help against Tylia, who is accused of allowing border raids against her. They believe Tylia to be an easy target and plan to conquer Nauticau and repartition Estrella into two parts instead of three. However, thanks to well-positioned mountain forts and quick-thinking generals, the invasion fails and Ealmon is killed. As he had no heir, Wesland is absorbed into Finni's territory. She fails to capture Nauticau, but begins calling herself Queen of Estrella. By rights, Wesland should have gone to Tylia.
654 | ESTRELLA | Nauticau invade Estrella and take its outlier islands as well as a portion of the mainland coast before being driven to a stalemate. Fickle nobility wage near-constant war amongst each other with the monarchs powerless to stop them, resulting in lots of small border changes across the decades.
660 | XHAKHORO | The Isle of Nashir breaks free from Xhakhoro in the first major Nashiri rebellion. It's recaptured later that year in a brutal conquest.
673 | XHAKHORO | The prophet is exiled to Korvaria. He brings thousands of his followers with him, preaching a doctrine of stoicism and non-violence.
675 | XHAKHORO | Korvaria has grown significantly. Many people travel from nearby territories just to hear the prophet give his speeches, which always creates huge crowds. Local governors have mixed opinions on him as the influx of visitors brings in a lot of trade.
676 | ESTRELLA | Nauticau begin hiring Ygiri raiders to attack Estrella, but the Ygiri prove to be somewhat unreliable mercenaries. The chaos they cause greatly lowers public opinion of Nauticau without helping Nauticau gain much new ground.
677 | XHAKHORO | The prophet passes away suddenly at the age of 47. His followers claim that his early death was a sign that he had merely surpassed the need for his physical body.
678 | XHAKHORO | A campaign of persecution against the followers of the Ascendency is started by the emperor of Xhakhoro. The prophet's family go into hiding, and are supported by a large network of followers.
679 | XHAKHORO | A few members of Korvaria's local government condemn the religious persecution and are swiftly dismissed from their posts. Ascendency followers are continuing to move to Korvaria.
683 | ESTRELLA | The powerful Duchy of Siofi revolts and declares its independence. Its incredibly wealthy ruler, Dux Vilixii, succeeds in this revolt by bribing and befriending Estrellan and Nauticau nobility. They force the crown to let the territory go for now.
685 | ATROVIA | In the north, the rulers of the coastal midlands of Atrovia agree to destroy all of the bridges connecting their tribes to the Ygiri steppe. This is to prevent the nomads from raiding them, but it marks the beginning of a major split between settled Atrovia and settled Steppe cultures, as well as renewed Ygiri infighting.
688 | CHYERJIK | King Du'rhvu II has united the majority of settled Wilderlands tribes under his banner. He's a diplomatic man, and appears uninterested in fathering children with a woman or in establishing a dynasty, so he innovates a dual power system where a tribal council is in charge of electing the next king. This type of government will prove popular as Chyerjik grows, with the system slowly spreading into Atrovia and other northern areas.
690 | XHAKHORO | The nephew of the prophet declares that pacifism is sometimes a more violent option than fighting injustice, if the injustice will lead to more harm in the long run than destroying it would. He and his followers rise up to take over Korvaria.
691 | XHAKHORO | Ascendency followers are encouraged to rise up in other cities, and to spread the messages of the prophet and his nephew. The Estrellan kingdoms are said to have provided Korvaria with food and coin that was vital to their survival.
692 | XHAKHORO | Xhakhoro clash with the followers of the Ascendency in several major battles in the desert. They are said to have reacted very slowly to the problem as they underestimated both the size of the Ascendency's armies as well as the level of popular support they would recieve.
695 | ESTRELLA | Estrella is forced to intervene on behalf of Siofi in order to stop Nauticau from conquering it.
696 | XHAKHORO | Xhakhoro's emperor is slain by the nephew of the prophet in Xhakhoro's ancient capital of Anshrahat. The nephew is named the second prophet of the Ascendency, which is now a new nation that exists in Xhakhoro's place.
698 | ASCENDENCY | The second prophet orders the construction of the Grand Temple of the Ascendency just outside of Korvaria.
700 | ASCENDENCY | The Ascendency enters its golden age. It has positive relations and fruitful trade with the Estrellan kingdoms to the south, and pours a lot of resources into creating schools for art and science. A lot of literature is created that recuperates terminology and concepts from other Eitadorian religions. The Mezahiri term 'Sultir', the daybreak of paradise, becomes used by the Ascendency to refer to'inner paradise' instead of earthly paradise. Crossover such as this greatly speeds up the adoption of the religion by the masses.
701 | CHYERJIK | Queen Xhervicc'ica is elected ruler of Chyerjik, despite some initial disagreement about whether or not a woman should be eligible for the role. She goes down in Wilderlands history as a great leader, expanding Chyerjik to include its outlying islands, and forcing many of the rulers in western Atrovia to pay tribute to her. Wealth and prosperity are enjoyed for many years.
705 | ASCENDENCY | A tunnel is created through the mountain range north of Korvaria, allowing trade and religion to penetrate even the most remoteregions of the country.
710 | ESTRELLA | The duchies of northern Nauticau revolt and seek independence primarily due to the high taxes imposed on them. While the attention of the Nauticau military is focused there, Estrella steal back most of the coastline taken from them in 654. Nauticau ends the year on the verge of complete collapse.
711 | ESTRELLA | The northern duchies of Nauticau join a personal union with Siofi after Siofi's Dux marries into one of their most powerful dynasties.
716 | CHYERJIK | Queen Xhervicc'ica's 15-year-old son, Hwywce, finds the peaceful status quo tiring. He dreams of being like an adventurer of legend. Against her wishes, he sneaks away on a ship with a small warband. He raids Atrovian merchant vessels, rides with Ygiri raiders, and then disappears in Europe. The queen is left distraught.
717 | ESTRELLA | The rogue territories begin to make ground against Nauticau, conquering it county by county. As they're doing this, Estrella panics and declares war, but many nobles refuse to send their levies to the fight.
720 | ESTRELLA | The king of Estrella is ousted by his military commanders. A month later, Nauticau falls to Siofi.
722 | CHYERJIK | The young prince-elect is killed by a mountain dog while hiking, and Su'rhvu, a cousin of Queen Xhervicc'ica, uses his considerable financial influence in order to get voted in as his replacement. As this cousin has a bad reputation with the people, Xhervicc'ica is unhappy with the appointment. She hopes for Hwywce to return and win the tribal council's favor, but is not sure if he is even alive. The council suspects that he cares little for her or the kingdom.
724 | CHYERJIK | The tribal council manage to confirm that Hwywce is alive, and is now in charge of a Mediterranean pirate vessel, but all attempts to contact him fail or appear to be ignored.
725 | ESTRELLA | Estrella is once more united, but with a new dynasty on the throne that is descendant from the rulers of Siofi and Astaria. This new Estrella is slightly more decentralized than before, with lower taxes for the nobility and more autonomy in the fringe provinces. These changes make it easier for the crown to manage such a large territory.
726 | ESTRELLA | With the encouragement of the Ascendency, a prohibition is declared on all Christian missionaries from Europe.
728 | CHYERJIK | While Queen Xhervicc'ica lies on her deathbed, Hwywce finally returns and reconciles with her. He claims that he has had enough adventure for a lifetime and regrets not coming to see her sooner. The tribal chiefs are moved by the scene and opt to elect him as the new prince-elect on her wishes.
729 | CHYERJIK | Su'rhvu, who had been ruling as regent during Xhervicc'ica's dying days, still believes himself to be Chyerjik's rightful king. He turns the army against the elector chiefs who voted for Hwywce, but his attempt at rebellion fails miserably when his generals turn on him. When he attempts to flee the country, he is captured by Hwywce's pirate friends and locked away in a dungeon.
730 | STEPPE | Ygiri infighting gives steppe settlements a better chance of withstanding raids. Many of the nomadic tribes eventually settle down or change their focus away from raiding. Some Ygiri tribes build good reputations as traders dealing in furs, livestock, and whittled trinkets.
731 | CHYERJIK | King Hwywce has relearnt Wilderlands culture and reintegrated into court life. He marries a mystic woman and becomes deeply interested in Wilderlands spiritualism. Their children are named after characters of myth and raised to be devoutly religious.
738 | ASCENDENCY | The Ascendency's second prophet is killed by an assassin at Thorne Hill.
739 | ASCENDENCY | The Isle of Nashir violently break free from the Ascendency, which failed to gain much of a religious foothold there.
746 | CHYERJIK | The second son of King Hwywce, Augyir, is elected king after Hwywce disappears at sea during a storm. He has a great fondness for art, and commissions many beautiful gardens with sculptures and pillars dedicated to Wilderlands culture and spiritualism.
747 | RAZENOVA | The tribes of Atrovia remain divided in most matters and still fight terrible wars with one another, but they foster a shared desire to stay independent from the Ascendency, Estrella, and Chyerjik. A number of settlements begin to coordinate joint raids against these larger kingdoms, as well as form defensive pacts against anyone who would aspire to build a new kingdom in the north. This leads to the loose concept of a 'Razenovan Confederacy' and ends the Ascendency's golden age.
748 | RAZENOVA | Settlements in western Atrovia accuse Chyerjik of encouraging raids against them, some of which resulted in large massacres, but Chyerjik claim the raids were without their permission. They emphasise that tribal chiefdoms in the Wilderlands are allowed a great deal of autonomy and cannot be kept on a leash all of the time.
750 | ASCENDENCY | The Temple Council make Ascendency religious festivals and principles mandatory.
752 | RAZENOVA | Atrovian tribes band together to attack the Wilderlands in revenge for the raids, burning every village they come across.
753 | CHYERJIK | King Augyir of Chyerjik meets Razenova in battle and forces their armies out of the Wilderlands. He is, however, horrifically maimed in combat, leading him to wear a mask thereafter.
755 | CHYERJIK | A disease sweeps through the Wilderlands and nearly kills the increasingly ailing King Augyir. Some mystics claim that the gods are punishing them for allowing heathenism to spread through the kingdom, and King Augyir begins a campaign of religious persecution against 'spiritual sicknesses' such as Ascendency and Mezahir.
758 | RAZENOVA | The Razenovan Confederacy takes in many settlements of the Ygiri Steppe, as well as some of the nomadic tribes, by promising them that they can all earn great riches by raiding Estrella together.
760 | ESTRELLA | Estrella's peasantry begin a mass revolt in Wesland that ends in crown intervention. A number of dukes have their titles revoked for handling the situation poorly. The territory is divided up into smaller counties and with more native Weslanders in positions of power.
761 | NASHIR | Fighting breaks out between the tribes of Isle Nashir when the high chief dies suddenly. This leaves his six year old child, Iffi, at the top of an already struggling heirarchy. A number of tribes are upset with territorial changes forced onto them by Xhakhoro and the Ascendency, while other tribes benefitted from these changes and do not want a return to the traditional boundaries, and they take the weakness of the high chiefdom as an opportunity to fight.
764 | ESTRELLA | A large Razenovan invasion is stopped at the region later known as North Avosnia. Estrella begins to build huge fortresses all over the region.
767 | ASCENDENCY | The new penal code makes the laws of the Ascendency the harshest in the continent. Many things that were once allowed are now considered heretical. The number of religious scholars begins to dwindle and the rate of cultural change in the nation slows a lot.
768 | CHYERJIK | After a period of depression, King Augyir secludes himself in his room for a week. He starves himself of social interaction, food, and water. Then, finally, he emerges with a long confession titled 'The Wrongs I have Wrought'. He announces amnesty for many of the heretics in his dungeons. Three weeks later, he is found dead in the castle gardens with no signs of violence or foul play.
769 | CHYERJIK | The tribal council are split between the extreme spiritualists and the religious moderates. They refuse to agree on a new king, and many of the nation's tributaries and vassals break free. Many Razenovan lords take this opportunity to conquer land in the Wilderlands. Eventually, when a king is finally chosen, there is not much left of the kingdom. It fades into relative obscurity.
770 | ASCENDENCY | Relations with Estrella fall into disarray after an Estrellan noble is executed in Karfor for the crime of "excess".
771 | NASHIR | High Chieftan Iffi, now sixteen, is taking a more active role in ruling the island. They prove to be a skilled negotiator, settling many of the disputes that had been causing the tribes to fight and building rapport with lesser chiefs. They are popular with the people, especially the younger generation, and are known to be kind and fair. A couple of large tribes remain disloyal, however, one in the west and one in the east. Both are ruled by old and bitter warriors who were veterans of the war that broke Nashir away from the Ascendency, and both desire the high chiefdom for themselves.
773 | RAZENOVA | Severe flooding in the Razenovan heartland, combined with raids from Scandinavian adventurers, puts plans for a new assault on Estrella on hold.
775 | NASHIR | High Chieftan Iffi goes to war against their largest dissenting vassal, ruler of the tribe to the east, and they win an overwhelming victory. They personally command the army and personally defeat and then spare an enemy champion, earning the respect of all who witness the fight. When Iffi returns to their palace, however, they are stabbed in the heart by one of their cousins following the victory parade. The armies of the western dissenters rush the village and slaughter Iffi's soldiers while they are still drunk from the celebrations.
776 | NASHIR | The authority of the new high chief is not recognised by the majority of the island, but they cannot agree on a suitable alternative. Isle Nashir splits into four high chiefdoms and two rulerless tribal collectives. Short but terrible wars become commonplace, and Iffi's kindness is remembered fondly, eventually giving rise to a prophesy that Iffi will someday be reincarnated in order to bring eternal peace.
782 | CHYERJIK | The newly elected queen is murdered in her first week. An 'emergency' tribal council session is called that only half of the eligible voters can make it to in time. The council votes to dissolve the kingdom and join Razenova.
786 | RAZENOVA | Attention has been turned almost entirely towards the Ascendency instead of Estrella, whose northern defences are too strong. This change puts Ascendency plans to recapture a foothold in Nashir on hold.
788 | ASCENDENCY | A major coup forces the Temple Council to permit alternative religious beliefs in the Ascendency. The coup has popular support and is headed by a number of military generals and nobles who style themselves as reformists.
791 | ASCENDENCY | Appeals are made to Estrella for help against Razenova, but all attempts to normalize relations fail.
792 | ESTRELLA | The original manuscript of 'Spirits of Eitador' is created. It's the earliest known text to compile the many deities and spirits of Eitadorian polytheism into an encyclopedic structure. Many of the gods carry a lot of similarities to gods in the Greco-Roman pantheons, some such as Gerzil existed also in Berber mythology, while others such as Varukuzah are entirely endemic to Eitador. The manuscript focuses primarily on the spirits common to southern, Estrellan, belief. Northern polytheism carried some slight differences at the time but these are not well-documented.
793 | ASCENDENCY | A major battle is won against Razenova that keeps the Ascendency alive, but one of the most beloved generals involved in the 788 coup is killed. Rumors are spread that this is because he 'betrayed' his religion and grew indulgent and lazy.
796 | ASCENDENCY | Ascendency Priests attempt a counter-coup to revert the 788 coup, but they fail. A number of priests are killed during the unrest, causing religious divides to grow deeper. Unrest swells.
798 | ASCENDENCY | A wave of high-profile assassinations take place. Ascendency 'Devouts' kill a number of the 788 leaders, priests of Eitadorian Polytheism, and Ascendency 'Moderates'. Polytheists and Ascendency Moderates kill a numer of Ascendency Devouts. Larger towns and cities fall into disarray as nobles fail to control the situation.
799 | ASCENDENCY | The Ascendency lose a series of pivotal battles in the north.
800 | GLOBAL | The Scandinavian Viking Age begins.
801 | RAZENOVA | The Ascendency collapses as it is quickly conquered by the northern tribes. Their warlords divide the territory up between them, and rule for the most part no more harshly than their predecessors. A minority of these warlords were adventurers from beyond Eitador, including Iberia, Wagadu, and Denmark, who had made deals with the Razenovans.
802 | ESTRELLA | Estrella invade the collapsing Ascendency, taking roughly half of the Karforian coastline before Razenova can. They're less religiously fluid than the Razenovans and struggle to bridge cultural divides with Ascendency devouts.
803 | RAZENOVA | The Grand Temple is heavily damaged by the local lord after an attempted uprising by devout followers.
805 | RAZENOVA | Razenova frequently attack Estrella's area of Karfor. Estrella continue to control and fortify the grassland area.
810 | ESTRELLA | High-quality Karforian wood allows Estrella to build lots of ships very quickly. They use these ships to control Karfor's outlying islands. Isle Nashir nominally becomes part of Estrella but is left mostly to its own devices. Estrella do not interfere in tribal affairs, just extract a light tax and maintain a couple of ports in previously abandoned areas.
817 | RAZENOVA | The Ascendency religion is briefly outlawed in Korvaria, but to little success.
820 | RAZENOVA | The great storyteller Ratetska Mastruil is born in the north east. He travels the land spreading tales of the land's heroes and villains. It later becomes unclear which of his stories were purely fiction and which had a historical basis, but knowledge of his characters spreads across the continent and makes a powerful cultural impact.
822 | ESTRELLA | Estrella send their navy along the western coast to blockade the major river in Karfor that belongs to Razenova. The Confederacy do not have many ships they can use in response, and cannot break the blockade.
823 | ESTRELLA | The land invasion of Razenovan Karfor begins and is successful.
834 | RAZENOVA | A counter-invasion returns northern Karfor to Razenova. Naval fighting insues and Razenova take heavy losses, but Estrella are not able to put the blockade back in place. The fighting eventually draws to a stalemate.
840 | ESTRELLA | Estrella becomes increasingly centralized as more and more obligations are placed on the nobility by the crown. An attempt at rebellion is stopped by the crown's spies before it happens and a number of dissenting lords die under mysterious circumstances.
850 | RAZENOVA | Infighting between warlords becomes so bad that many believe Razenova is due to collapse. Estrella consider invading, but utlimately decide against it. This is referred to later as Razenova's 'Decade of Turmoil'.
853 | RAZENOVA | An increasing number of territories are ruled by Norsemen, which becomes another issue being fought over in the already tense Confederacy. Many rulers, particularly in the Ygiri steppe, maintain good ties with the Viking settlers and have begun to develop hybrid cultures. Others, particularly in Atrovia, Razenovan coastal heartland that was brutally damaged by Norse raiders, are hostile to the idea of foreigners taking any land in Eitador.
860 | RAZENOVA | Razenova's 'Year of Weddings' ends the Decade of Turmoil. An unusual number of forced marriages take place between the nobility, especially between the exceptionally powerful houses that later became known as Razenova's 'Great Houses'.
862 | RAZENOVA | Razenova's renewed ties result in extremely coordinated and successful raids against Estrella.
870 | RAZENOVA | Estrellan Karfor is conquered by the northern tribes. They build fortresses in the mountains along the border and construct a fleet of ships to help them solidify their control over the territory.
874 | RAZENOVA | Karfor's outlying islands are taken from Estrella by Razenova. Some of the smaller inhabited islands simply defect without any fighting, and the nobles there are allowed to retain their land and privileges. Isle Nashir put up fierce resistance, however.
880 | RAZENOVA | The new local lord in Korvaria is rumored to have converted to the Ascendency. He provides funding to repair and maintain The Grand Temple.
924 | RAZENOVA | Lots of fighting occurs in the southern plains, which were known to the Estrellans as the northern plains. Areas of territory change hands here numerous times, and the populace start to get used to never knowing who their new ruler will be in a year's time.
934 | ESTRELLA | The Knights of Hale are founded to protect the 'religious integrity' of Eitadorian polytheism. Poems and songs including the Knightly Poem of Hale are written.
966 | BIVARA | Lord Ghier of Secara declares himself not only a king who is now independent from Razenova, but also the third prophet of the Ascendency. He names his new nation Bivara, an old Xhakhoran word for the desert wind. He then sends his armies towards Korvaria, expecting them to be welcomed, but very few people actually accept him as their prophet.
969 | RAZENOVA | The Confederacy work together in the Battle of Lugtar Pass to stop the advance of Bivara. The defeat is devastating for Bivara, whose army were already exhausted from marching through the desert on very low rations.
970 | BIVARA | Unrest swells as Bivara is afflicted by a terrible famine.
973 | BIVARA | The kingdom collapes. Razenovan warlords enter the territory and are welcomed by the people there. The reconquest is relatively smooth and involves minimal skirmishes and looting.
975 | RAZENOVA | The Icelandic Saga 'The Tale of Thorfridr the Handsome' is said to have taken place here. It recounts the battles of sword and heart fought by the Viking Thorfridr as he journeys across Eitador.
976 | RAZENOVA | North Avosnia is conquered from Estrella. Several generals and great warriors involved in fighting Bivara are key to the success of the invasion. The fight is still very difficult and Razenova take heavy losses.
982 | ESTRELLA | Rion Torrus, often referred to as Eitador's greatest swordsmith, is born.
996 | RAZENOVA | East Avosnia is conquered, making all of Avosnia Razenovan. A number of Avosnian lords defected to Razenova and made the invasion much easier, but not all of them retained their land after the conquest was complete and the warlords wanted to reward their friends and families. Other Estrellan nobles now think twice about switching sides or trusting Razenova, and their few Estrellan sympathizers become fewer.
1000 | GLOBAL | Norse explorer Leif Eriksson visits North America. He names the land 'Vinland' after the wild grape vines, and his comrades have a mixture of both positive and negative interactions with the locals.
1010 | RAZENOVA | The Icelandic Gunnar Blacktongue's 'Eitador Saga' is said to take place here. It describes Razenovans as 'much the same as Norsemen', and includes references to real history, but also features mythical creatures and evil giants as commonplace occurences in Eitador.
1038 | ESTRELLA | Rion Torrus, swordsmith, quits the Estrellan court and disappears into the woods on the border with Razenova. Several peasants and minor knights later claim to have met him and convinced him to make weapons for them, but the king's men never uncover the location of his new home.
1083 | RAZENOVA | The Great House of Ratsuva relocate from Atrovia, in the north, to Karfor, in the west. Atrovia, the heartland of Razenova, has limited potential for expansion as all of the houses there are already very powerful and built-up. Karfor, by comparison, is an overlooked and partially desertified area full of minor houses.
1099 | RAZENOVA | The group known as 'Malkyr's Banner' is formed with the intention of uniting Razenovan nobles against Estrella with a series of raids.
1104 | RAZENOVA | House Ratsuva is widely criticized for aggressive and expansionist actions against its neighbors.
1128 | ESTRELLA | Estrella cause widespread devastation in Razenova's southern plains, looting many towns and villages. A number of very bloody battles occur, including one in which Lord Malkyr, the founder of Malkyr's Banner, is killed. Malkyr's Banner do not disband, but their attacks become less frequent and less organized.
1129 | RAZENOVA | War breaks out between House Ratsuva and an alliance of Karforian lords.
1130 | ESTRELLA | Flooding drowns many fields and causes food shortages.
1133 | RAZENOVA | Fighting continues in Karfor after a brief stalemate, but this time the Karforian lords are supported by the Atrovian Great Houses.
1138 | RAZENOVA | Lord Gaskiev is captured and imprisoned when his Xhakhoran-style palace, Gashkev'ada Nuri, is stormed by a broad alliance of his enemies.
1140 | RAZENOVA | Razenova's Cloud Scribe Order cooperate with the Estrellan Guild of the Quill to survey the culture and geography of the continent and preserve various records of it. Their work from this period includes The Shipworm of Vanma Reef, The Mountain Dogs of The Wilderlands, Blue Oat Stem, Veruvan Gold, Karfori's Pine, The Drake Trade, and Edripe and Sarice. It also inspired the 2023 article, The Ants of Nashir, and a long biography of Gaskiev Ratsuva is written with the title The Rise and Fall of Gaskiev Ratsuva.
1148 | RAZENOVA | A battle involving Ramish of Jedna is recorded in Slaughter at the Oasis. A peasant organization known as The Red Palm create a pamphlet called 'RISE UP!' to propagandize for their cause. Vilyra Yahn'ik creates Vilyra's Song of Wanderlust.
1150 | RAZENOVA | The events of 'My Lady, My Liege' (Medieval Town Builder CYOA) take place here. Also see the related Pixel Art Banner Maker.
1160 | RAZENOVA | Numerous breakway kingdoms emerge. Most of them are in the south, and are supported by Estrella.
1206 | GLOBAL | Ghenghis Khan creates the largest land empire in history.
1211 | RAZENOVA | With too many cities and territories acting independently, with their own cultures, and all now competing with each other, Razenova collapses into a number of independent states and a number of major wars.
1230 | ESTRELLA | The mayor of the powerful walled city of Dyria refuses to pay taxes to the duke of Tilianus. The duke appeals to the king for aid multiple times but receives no answer until he travels to the court in person and insists on an audience. The king tells the duke to deal with the issue himself, and a short series of battles ensue in Tilianus until Dyria is seized by the duke's forces.
1231 | ESTRELLA | Noticing the king's weakness, the duke of Tilianus stops paying taxes to him. He encourages other nobles to follow suit, stating that there is no reason to give taxes to a king who does not support his subjects.
1233 | ESTRELLA | The tax strikes end in a comprimise that lower crown authority over the duchies, allowing them larger and more independent armies. The duke of Tilianus is also granted a new county on the understanding that he cause the king no further problems.
1300 | EITADOR | A new series of peasant revolts occur all across Eitador.
