1780 | BRIGHTFIRE | Brightfire becomes the first industrialized nation in the Eitador continent.
Puratova lags behind.
1785 | BRIGHTFIRE | Brightfire attack Puratova in what is known as The Powder War. It's significantly bloodier
than every war that came before it in Eitador.
1795 | PURATOVA | The Powder War ends. Brightfire fail to capture much more than a small area of desert from Puratova,
but the Puratovans still cannot celebrate. Roughly 5% of their male population were killed as a result of the fighting.
1804 | GLOBAL | The world population reaches 1 billion.
1805 | PURATOVA | Puratova send their fleet to help the Third Coalition against France. Britain pay them for every boat that they can spare.
1808 | BRIGHTFIRE | Brightfire join the war against France in response to Napoleon's invasion of Spain.
1809 | PURATOVA | Napoleon sends a fleet towards Puratova. Brightfire, Puratova, and their smaller neighbors,
all work together for the first time in order to prevent any possibility of Eitador being invaded.
1812 | XHAKHORO | Labor protection laws are passed that will later set a precedent for the world.
1815 | GLOBAL | Napoleon is defeated. The Congress of Vienna redraws Europe's borders in an attempt to quell
any future possibility of republicanism and revolution.
1821 | GLOBAL | Simon Bolivar and the independence movements of Latin America defeat the Spanish and create Gran Colombia.
1823 | PURATOVA | Puratovan explorers claim to be the first people to ever step foot on Antartica,
but this is disputed strongly by historians.
1837 | PURATOVA | Puratova's queen begins a strong friendship with Queen Victoria of Britain.
1848 | GLOBAL | 'The Communist Manifesto' pamphlet is published. It's Karl Marx's most influential work,
and it calls for communist revolutions around the world.
1850 | PURATOVA | Puratova get the United Kingdom's help to construct Eitador's first railway.
1859 | GLOBAL | The Suez Canal is constructed in Egypt, enabling a more direct route for shipping between
Europe and Asia. This leads to a major economic downturn all across Eitador.
1862 | BRIGHTFIRE | A socialist uprising by dockworkers in Nauticau leads to a violent massacre by imperial soldiers.
1870 | EITADOR | Most of Eitador is now connected by railroad.
1871 | GLOBAL | The Paris Commune control the city for a few months before being supressed by the French army.
Karl Marx calls it the first example of the dictatorship of the proletariat.
1872 | XHAKHORO | The Xhakhoro Salamander, thought to have been extinct for 150 years, is rediscovered.
Conservation efforts begin which eventually prove very successful.
1888 | BRIGHTFIRE | Nauticau experiences a huge socialist uprising, and the empire almost lose control.
They agree to give more autonomy to the Nauticau-Avosnia region in order to quell unrest.
1889 | BRIGHTFIRE | Representatives of he holy temple of the Ascendency appeal for people to obey their government
and avoid giving in to rebellion and anarchy.
1890 | BRIGHTFIRE | Eitador's first skyscraper is constructed in the Avosnian city of Vitaria.
This is 5 years after the world's first skyscraper, in Chicago.
1892 | GLOBAL | Peter Kropotkin publishes 'The Conquest of Bread'. It becomes a classic of anarchist and communist literature,
proposing a decentralized eocnomic system based on mutual aid and voluntary cooperation, instead of artificial scarcity and exploitation.
1896 | PURATOVA | An anarchist assassinates the Queen of Puratova in an act of 'propaganda of the deed'.
The intention was to show that monarchs are very much human, and very much vulnerable.
The assassin is swiftly executed, but dies a martyr for her cause.
1898 | GLOBAL | Puratova and Brightfire both participate in The International Anti-Anarchist Conference of Rome,
where the nations of Europe meet in one place for the first time ever in order to combat the anarchist threat.
They agree to set up organizations for the surveillance of those suspected of anarchism.
They attempt the redefinition of anarchism from a socialist movement with specific aims to a movement of people who just want violence and chaos.
Additionally, The United States annex Hawaii, and claim a number of territories from Spain, transforming the country into a colonial superpower.
1900 | PURATOVA | Anarchists rise up in Puratova and take a significant amount land. Brightfire decide that they have a common enemy,
and send soldiers to help.
1901 | XHAKHORO | The Xhakhoro Salamander, now thriving, is adopted as the national animal. Its inspiring comeback is said to be similar
to how the state of Xhahkhoro itself was revived after hundreds of years of dormancy.
1902 | BRIGHTFIRE | Brightfire assist the naval blockade of Venezuela in order to enforce the collection of outstanding financial debt.
1905 | BRIGHTFIRE | Independence movements flare up all over Brightfire.
1910 | PURATOVA | Unarmed protestors are shot outside of the palace in Puratova's capital, sparking another huge uprising.
The palace is burnt to the ground, killing a number of the king's relatives. He flees the country to stay with his wife's family in Russia,
and Puratova becomes a republic.
1914 | GLOBAL | World War I begins. All of Eitador is neutral on paper, but selling weapons in practice.
1917 | GLOBAL | The Bolshevik revolution occurs, led by Lenin. The former Russian Empire is reoganized into the USSR,
the world's first country with the stated goal of socialism.
1918 | BRIGHTFIRE | A coup in Brightfire's capital forces the emperor to give up a lot of his power.
1919 | BRIGHTFIRE | Fearing revolution, but knowing that former Brightfire officials will be much easier to deal with than radicals,
the empire is dissolved. Independence is granted to the regions of Avosnia, Nauticau, and Xhakhoro. A new region, Daybreak,
is also created. The purpose of Daybreak is to limit the influence of the other regions and provide a buffer zone of difficult to navigate terrain.
Brightfire becomes a constitutional monarchy.
1922 | XHAKHORO | Xhakhoro is threatened with sanctions by the United States after it's discovered that the country took money
in exchange for assisting smugglers during the US prohibition on alcohol. Several state officials are fired as a result.
1927 | GLOBAL | The world population reaches 2 billion.
1930 | BRIGHTFIRE | Fascism takes hold in Brightfire. Those responsible for the 1918 coup are put on trial and convicted for treason.
Despite this, no powers are ever returned to the monarchy, who have expressed modest disaproval of the new fascist regime.
1933 | BRIGHTFIRE | The nation is condemnded across the world for its persecution of journalists.
1934 | XHAKHORO | A secret society of the far right carry out a spate of bomb attacks on public institutions.
They release a manifesto that praises Brightfire and Nazi Germany, and makes strange references to the occult.
1936 | BRIGHTFIRE | Brightfire send support to the nationalists in the Spanish civil war.
1937 | PURATOVA | Puratova arrange transport for Eitadorian anarchists to fight in the Spanish civil war.
They believe that the anarchist cause in Spain is doomed, and use it as an opportunity to get rid of leftists
while draining Brightfire's resources. The civil war is significantly prolonged by this.
1938 | XHAKHORO | The HQ of the secret society is raided when one of their members informs on them.
Officials find enough stockpiled guns to supply a small army, and believe that Brightfire must have been involved.
Several bodies are also found, many with runes and sigils carved into them.
1940 | PURATOVA | The anarchists in Spain outperfomed Puratova's expectations, and now control most of the country.
Puratova quickly pull their support, and begin the funding the fascists instead.
1942 | GLOBAL | Millions of Jewish, Romani, Polish, disabled, LGBT people, and socialists are killed in a genocide
perpetrated by Nazi Germany and their allies.
1943 | GLOBAL | The Spanish civil war finally comes to an end, with a nationalist victory.
1945 | GLOBAL | The United States drop atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, killing 200,000 civillians, and ending WWII.
The United Nations is founded with the stated goal of maintaining international peace.
